I admit that I have been avoiding this post for various reasons. First of all, now that my "academic journal" is over I can quit blog writing, which I don't like. Why do we have to spread information around to the whole world? With facebook, constant access to telephones, the same television series everywhere, and blogging, I feel like people can't learn how to be themselves. By using these tools to make ourselves look cool, we are all becoming a product of what others think we should be instead of who we are based on what lies deep in us. Anyway.
Second reason is that I went to a Dungeons and Dragons party. I didn't know how to say no! I was with my friend in France and he was giving me a ride so I went with him into town to his friend's place - and a apparently gaming like that is much more popular/socially acceptable in Europe. Probably because these kids 1. don't have yards to go play ball in 2. haven't seen every american movie where gamers are portrayed as nerds. (DISCLAIMER: if you play Dungeons, that is okay. I am only making large stereotypes based on two entire countries. However, if you are a intense gamer that forgets to eat because you don't want to miss the next move, you need help.) They tried to explain what was going on but I just stared at them with a blank face. "Have you played ()*%$%$ or %(*)* or (^(%(* or *^)&(_ ???" Nope, not ever. So I left and wandered the town alone because it was a vacation day and the town was deserted. Not a single store open, and vary few restaurants. I did manage, however to find a creperie to eat a chorizo and egg galette with sauted tomatoes and a red pepper cream.
After Rennes I headed to Paris to see Etienne. What a champ - he managed to find furniture and decorations for his apartment and it looks amazing! He definetly has some good style, and he is really good at finding good deals. We watched this stupid movie that he said was super famous and really good and took place in Marseille. None of the above were true. Greece, it sucked, and I'm pretty sure no one has ever heard of it. It was about this guy that thought he was a dolphin so at the end he embraces his lover, says goodbye, and then dives into the depth of the ocean to swim with a dolphin an die. Its a nice story.
Little airport trouble so after arab bread in paris, a bag of m&ms in Iceland, and two day visit in New York, a yogurt parfait in San Fran I was home! I loved it all, don't worry people.
