Heavily Medicated

I remember reading an article in the Economist that talked about France's obsession with pills. It has more pills being perduced per capita than most other countries. And even French government officials and doctors admit that most of these pills are untested and unefficient. Today I talked to a monsieur that purposefully throws away all of his pills - he has had enough he says. My first instinct is to tell him to put confidence in his doctors and to take the pills they give him. But then a second thought emerges, slowly questioning my reasoning. Just because they wear white sneakers doesn't make them all knowing. Very often, the pills might be useless. So, monsieur P., if you don't feel like taking those pills, then don't. It is your choice after all, to have confidence in these nurses or not. And who knows, maybe you are better off without them?
