I can't decide if I am homesick or not. There are things I miss, but I suppose that I am happy here and can't believe I only have two more weeks of work. Today was the last day for my spanish amiga. We went to a retirement home and met up with some friends for a drink. People here are obesessed with "coca." I think its because they don't have the options of root beer, pepsi, dr. pepper, etc to distract them. They therefore drink coca cola like crazy people. Actually, I remember that the bus driver in Iceland said that their little country drinks for coca cola per capita than any other country. It's the country of kidney stones! There is one nice lady that has a problem with her nervous system and so she naws at her gums and sticks out her tongue continuously all day. But she is so cute with her little pink dress, catholic jewelry, and bed of stuffed animals. Another lady is so sick from cigarettes she pants like a dog with her tongue out, constantly wheezing.
This week has been really hard for many reasons. It seemed like none of our appointments worked! Plus we got caught in a huge rain storm. Actually, that was the best part of the week. . .I am glad it is the weekend, and I will soon have new start. It has made me tired though, and ready for a break.
The one success we had was with our friend from corica. We came, we made food, we ate, we conquered his heart. I made a spanish omlette in honor of senorita, and a chicken salad in honor of myself. He loved it! He is frustrated though because he can't recieve any more governmental help because he isn't "sick" enough. (Meaning he can still walk). From his perspective, he takes handfuls of pills a day and can't get the surgery he needs because they anistesia would kill him, which sums up his current state of health.
We almost got madame to dance today. She thinks she is too old. I am going to refresh my cha-cha moves so I can force her next week.
That is all for now.
