Out of this world
I had my first clubbing experience Friday night. Correction: I had my first European clubbing experience. And it was awesome. I wasn't too excited to go for many reasons; I had cut my foot while swimming and it hurt some, I was tired, I didn't know how I felt about the situation I was going to put myself in, etc. But they finally convinced me. We six volunteers for Les Petits Freres left the apartment at about 10 and headed to a beautiful place by the old port to find a restuarant. I ate an interesting pasta dish with sun-dried tomatoes, wilted spinach, and pine nuts. Then we headed to the club, which is a wine cave from the 17th century. There was a main hallway, with three dancing rooms coming off of it. One was disco/80s themed, one was hip hop, and one was smooth jazz. We stayed in the hip hop room of course. There were really cool chairs all around, with the bar and lights and a smoke machine. We danced the night away (until 2 am). Actually, we were probably the only ones dancing - all the other guys were just hopping up and down. I was soaked with sweat and reeked of smoke. But it was so fun. However, there were no buses after and Nouria and I had to walk home, about 30 minutes. We were so tired, cold, and dehydrated that we stumbled back, groaning for water like fools. Worth it.

ugh that sounds so fun. we're in paris and it feels so lame to head back to our hotel around 11, 10, 9 (don't judge us, it's been raining here!) when that's just when everyone else is heading out to have fun. but i guess we just like to sleep. and i agree--i just don't know where it would be good to go do it!
