la vie en rose

I have now spent two afternoons with the sweetest old lady. but visiting her isn't my job - she is another volunteer. can you imagine? she is probably 75+ and she is always suggesting that we take the stairs, walk instead of take the bus, etc. she has the best demeanor with the people we visit, and she knows exactly what to say to make them feel wonderful. she has taught me a lot in a short amount of time. she repeatedly said that she admired, and benefited, from seeing young people like me who give up time to volunteer. one time she noticed that i always have a song in my head that i am humming and she asked about what kind of music i like. for fun, i started to sing La Vie en Rose by Edith Piaf. she loved that i knew the words, so we sang the whole song together while driving. that reminded me one time in the mtc that sister sheridan told me that the french would love me because i appreciated their culture, in reference to edith piaf. some 4 years later, that came true.
